Agents With Positive Attitudes Make More Money
An Important Realization: Your dreams and goals won’t just land in your lap.
Question: Who do you know who did nothing at all and had their dreams come true (people who win the lotto obviously do not count)? You hear about success stories from agents who do 30, 40, or 100+ deals a year; these stories get us excited and motivated to take action.
Then when we start working and we don’t quickly see the results we want, we become disappointed in the system and disappointed in ourselves and oftentimes stop doing anything.
A thought to remember: Agents who do a lot of business consistently have paid their dues to get where they are today, they have set goals, they have made and executed plans on how to reach their goals; they continue to work hard daily to maintain their level of success.
If you want to increase your production, it’s time for you to do the same. Lets talk about those traits that go into being the superstar agent you want to be:
Persistence
The one trait that will lead you to success throughout your entire life is persistence. Persistence in prospecting, practicing, saving money, being healthy. By mastering the art of being persistence, you’ll be able to push yourself further than the competition and ultimately achieve the goals you’ve set for yourself.
SW-SW-SW-SW: Some will, some won’t, some will, some won’t
When prospecting for new clients, remember. Some will, some won’t. Again some will, some won’t. But someone out there is waiting for you, all you have to do is keep searching until you get that big YES from qualified clients.
You can’t skip steps
One of life’s realities is that major improvement takes time, it just doesn’t magically happen.
It’s not possible to go from being a brand new agent to a super star agent in 3 months. As long as you are persistent, focused on your goals and are consistently taking the necessary steps to reach your goals, it will happen.
Becoming a master takes time
It’s something that no one really wants to hear but, becoming great at anything takes a lot of time. The book Outliners by Malcom Gladwell talks about it taking 10,000 hours of practice to become a master. You have to practice, practice, and practice some more. The good news is most people aren’t willing to pay the price to achieve mastery. Don’t short change yourself by not being ready when opportunity comes your way. Make a commitment now to keep getting better and better every day in every way.
The extra mile
The extra mile is never crowded. To be a great sales person we must set ourselves apart from our competitors. We must go the extra mile! Here are a few steps in the extra mile.
Show up on time; what does that cost?
Call back your clients when you say you will; what does that cost?
Communicate with your buyers and sellers weekly; what does that cost?
Really listen to clients; what does that cost?
Preview property; what does that cost?
Greatness is being persistent in the little things all the time, not being great at some major things some of the time. You will never change your life until you change something you do daily.
Question: How many negative people do you know that are top producers in the sales business? A common misconception is they are happy now that they are top producers. This is not so, most had a happy grateful disposition before they were successful.
According to this Harvard study it said we have long had the formula for happiness backwards? Conventional wisdom says that if we work hard we will be more successful, and if we are more successful, then we’ll be happy. Right? But recent discoveries in the field of positive psychology have shown that this formula is actually backwards: Happiness fuels success, not the other way around. We’ve trained our brain to think along the lines of “I’ll be happy as soon as … I make a sale get a listings, knock 100 doors, make Centurion make $500,000 dollars, etc.”
Think about this: If someone is constantly scanning the world for negatives, then they will have no energy left over for looking for the positive, then our brains literally have no energy left over for scanning the world for things that make us grateful about our current position.
If we can change the way in which the brain views the world, what they have discovered is not only can we change our levels of happiness. In other words, by changing the way we appreciate happiness, we can improve on all dimensions of our life and, because our brains are wirelessly connected to others , we can actually infect others with a positive attitude. And a positive outlook can help lower depression rates, lead to superior productivity, make one more versatile, create less burnout and promote greater sales. For example, the positive brain is 31% more productive than when the brain is negative, neutral or stressed.
So when you are happy you can boost your sales productivity by as much as 31%!
Today matters…..
“If I accept you as you are I will make you worse. However, if I treat you as though you are what you are capable of becoming, I will help you become that.” Goethe
Now get out there and make this your best and happiest week ever.
