Discipline That Turns Ideas Into Reality

Appreciate the discipline that turns the ideas into reality

From the book …….

Talent Is Overrated (what really separates world class performers from everybody else)

Talent has little or nothing to do with greatness.

The good news is that your lack of a natural gift is irrelevant –  you can even make yourself great.

How do you do that?

With practice, but not just any practice …“Deliberate Practice”

Deliberate practice is focused, intense, and goal oriented. It’s about setting objectives to improve every practice and charting your progress, then getting feedback from coaches and going out and doing it again – again and again.

Many people today say they are willing to pay the price to be great but, “Simply hitting a bucket of balls is not deliberate practice, which is why most golfers don’t get better. Hitting an eight-iron 300 times with a goal of leaving the ball within 20 feet of the pin 80 percent of the time, continually observing results and making appropriate adjustments, and doing that for hours every day – that’s deliberate practice.”

Researchers have found that practice time and achievement are inseparable. Ericsson studied 20-year-old violinists and found that the best group, as judged by conservatory teachers, averaged 10,000 hours of deliberate practice in their lives. The next best average 7,500 hours and the next 5,000.

Every hour you put in over forty, either on your job or on yourself, improving your knowledge and skill, is as an investment in your success and your future.

  • The 1st 40 hours pays the bills
  • The next 10 starts to make you rich
  • The harder you work the luckier you get

To achieve more than the average person, you must work longer and harder than the average person. If you always do more than you are paid for, you will always be paid more that you are getting now. The only way that you can be paid more is by adding greater value to your work and by achieving more and better results.

  • Great performance is preceded by painstaking preparations
  • Ignore those who discourage you
  • Remember when you’re not working to improve your skills…. your competition is
  • Talent is God given, be humble. Fame is man given, be thankful
  • Conceit is self given, be careful
  • Do what has to be done, when it has to be done, and as well as it has to be done

Success in life is 85% attitude and 15% attitude. Our attitude is completely under our control. Remember that a great effort is usually a result of a great attitude.

Remember… today matters!

Now go out and make this your best week ever!

Optimistic people make more money

Optimism is more than a positive mental attitude

It is not constantly saying positive things to yourself and hoping they will come true

True optimism is a frame of reference that governs how you look at the world

Being optimistic means that you really believe you will be able to accomplish everything you want to do

Optimism means you see the positive in all situations

When you are optimistic you don’t focus on disappointment or negative feelings

People want to spend time with individual who have a positive view on life

This mindset is contagious and helps people to believe in you

Optimists have the ability to bounce back sooner rather than later or not at all

Nobody wants to be around a moody, angry, or pessimistic person

We all like and admire those who have a positive optimistic out look on life
