We’re now 6 months into the year… where are you with your goals? Perhaps a few of you are surpassing your goals, and some of you are on track, but the majority of you are not close to reaching your goals or may not even remember the goals you set! Keep this thought in mind: Successful people maintain a positive focus in life no matter what is going on around them. They focus on their past successes rather than their past failures. They focus on the steps they need to take move closer towards achieving their goals ; they are proactive in the pursuit of their chosen objectives.
The most important 30 minutes of the day
Your objective should be to maintain your focus throughout every work day. A simple technique to help you maintain your focus is to set aside time at the end of the day, preferably right before you go to sleep, to acknowledge your successes, review your goals, and mentally prepare yourself for your “wins” the next day. Why at the end of the day? Whatever you read, see, listen to, talk about, and experience during the last 30 min of the day greatly impacts how well you sleep and how you feel the next day. Studies have shown that when you drift off to sleep, you enter the alpha brain wave state of consciousness, this is a state of mind in which you are highly suggestible. Feed your brain the right stuff before you go to sleep. Think about how you can best mentally prepare yourself for tomorrow.
Focus on the events that took place that day and on the activities that you had planned to engage in, then ask yourself
- Where could I have been more effective today?
- How could I have been a better agent, mom, dad, brother, sister, son, daughter, or friend
- What steps do I need to take tomorrow to be better in these areas?
- Who can I talk to tomorrow that needs to buy or sell a home or may know someone who wants to buy or sell a home?
By creating a specific, nightly routine like this, you will be creating a clear path for yourself which will keep your eye set on your goals and help you achieve them.
Great advice! Something to practice and think about.

Neil:
I have enjoyed watching your videos and learning from you. I am a professional benefit and fundraising auctioneer, but what you say is relevant to my business as well. My question is as I get more clients I have a need to learn how to be more organized and how to keep track of each client by writing notes after each consultation. Do you have a video along that line? Something that shows management and scheduling of tasks. Thank you.
