Affirmations have the ability to transform bad habits into good habits. They allow you to be and stay mentally focused. Affirmations have the power to help you live the life you want. Think about this… how many successful people out there say to themselves, “I’m not that great… there are so many agents out there that are better than me?” The answer is none!
The Typical Mistake
Your affirmations cannot be vague; they must be specific and believable. If you choose to say to yourself, “I am going to make a million dollars in 2010,” you very well may be setting yourself up for failure. Ultimately, you may want to make a million dollars, but let’s face it, you’ll need to do a lot of work to get there. The secret is to change the affirmation to specific actions, for instance, “By prospecting and making 50 contacts today, I’m one step closer to making 1 million dollars a year.” So your affirmations shouldn’t be just the desired result, they should be the actions you take to get the result you want.
How to Maximize the Effectiveness of Affirmations
- Get at least two 5 x 8 index cards and write down 3-8 different affirmations on each card. Then, create at least 5 cards exactly like the first one.
- Place a card in various spots you are in. Your bed, in the bathroom, in the car, at the office, in your wallet/purse, pocket etc.
- Read the affirmations aloud in the morning when you wake up, while you’re driving, before you start role playing, before you start prospecting, during your prospecting, before your appointments and showings, after meals and most importantly, before you walk into your house at the end of the day.

V. Good post. My plan for December is to make £20,000. (I'm in the UK). I came close to it in Nov, but I didn't keep the activity level up. This post made me think hard about what I have to do to achieve goals, not just aimlessly affirming the goal all of the time.
So now I'm affirming the activity level…not the goal. Interesting. I'll let you know how I get on.
NB – I'm in Sales, but not in your sector.
